about us

The Give Something Back International Foundation (GSBI) is an international 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide life-changing, quality education to children, young adults, and teachers around the world that will have a lasting impact on their future lives and that of their families. The mission of the Foundation is "Education to Change Lives" and its vision is r
ooted in the wisdom of the old Chinese proverb: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life."

The GSBI Foundation was established in 2002 to directly fund and support the K-12 education of disadvantaged children and young adults throughout the world. We also build and renovate schools, classrooms and libraries in poor rural areas. We strive to accomplish our goals in the most cost effective and efficient way possible. Since we are an all volunteer organization, we can guarantee that 100% of the funds we raise go directly to benefit the children we sponsor. We do not use any of these donations for administrative or overhead expenses.

GSBI also manages the Global Virtual Classroom Project (GVC) - a free, online educational program for primary and secondary school students from around the world. This project fosters cross-cultural understanding, collaborative learning, planning and problem solving and giving back to others while providing an opportunity to learn 21st century internet, information technology and website design skills.

where we work
We currently focus our limited resources on sponsoring K-12 children in Thailand and Vietnam and look forward to expanding to other countries as funds are made available. We provide sponsorships for children whose families do not have the financial means to support their education. Once we select a child to sponsor, close contact and ongoing support is necessary. Each child we sponsor is visited at least once a year to check on their progress and to understand their future needs. We currently sponsor about 125 children per school year. Since our founding in 2002, we have sponsored the annual education of over 750 children.

Our Global Virtual Classroom Project is a worldwide program for any primary or secondary school that chooses to participate. Approximately 31,500 students and 1,920 teachers from 52 countries have participated in this project over the years.

what's in a name
The name for the Give Something Back International Foundation appeared in a dream to one of our co-founders. Soon after relocation to Hong Kong in 1994 for a work assignment, he had a dream in which he was reminded that it was time in his life to "give something back". After many years of trying to understand and implement this dream, he became focused on the education of disadvantaged children throughout the world. After repatriating back to the US in 2001, he decided to create the Give Something Back International Foundation as the way of implementing the message from his dream.

Give Something Back International Foundation, Inc was incorporated in the USA under the laws of the State of Florida in November 2002. It is a tax-exempt qualified public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the US-IRS Code with a Federal tax ID# 30-0125384. All contributions are tax-deductable.
